Steam Release for Instant Pot Steam Release Accessory Helps Protect Cabinets

This small item is saving my kitchen cabinets from steam damage. I use my 8 Qt Instant Pot on my stovetop, which has noupper vent, only a down vent on the stovetop itself. This vent was useless wheneveI used my IP’s ‘quick release’ which sent a huge cloud of steam into my upper cabinets. My husband didn’t want me to use the IP (though he absolutely loves the meals I produce in it) until I found this clever little doohickey. Problem completely solved!!

At first I thought these steam diverters were silly. Then I tried venting my new Instant Pot. Venting is easy to do, actually, but it’s worth being able to direct all that steam away from the bottom of the upper cabinets in my kitchen. When I know I will be venting as part of the recipe I pop the diverter on before the pot even heats up.I try hard to minimize hand washing so it’s great that this diverter can go in the dishwasher.Seemed like a gimmick but is earning it’s keep. Very handy.
