Espresso Machine Rubber Backflush Disk – Blind Insert

Not sure what it would do to the flavor, but no issues have arose. It is a great product and almost just as good as the blank Portofilter basket.

Although I use a metal blind insert when using a cleaner, I also like to backflush using plain water after every few shots. This makes it very easy to do — just pop it into the portafilter after dumping out the puck and you’re good to go.The insert fits perfectly in the Gaggia Classic double shot insert, and I imagine it would work fine in any 58mm portafilter. It’s made of heavy-duty rubber and has a stubby “handle” in the middle to make it easy to take out of the portafiler when done. I’ve posted some pictures of the item since there are none in the product listing.Highly recommend.

I bought this for my Breville Barista Express BES870XL Programmable Espresso Machine. I bought my machine used so it was missing a few things, the rubber backflush was one of those things. I wasn’t certain how to use it since it didn’t come with directions and I didn’t have an original, but I placed it in the one cup filter with the nub up, placed the cleaning tab on top of the rubber backflush, and twisted it into the holder. Nothing came out during the cleaning cycle and the tablet was melted so I assume it worked just as it should.I will probably not need another since this one seems very durable, but I would purchase again if I needed a new one and I would recommend it to others.
