Our Whirlpool microwave suddenly died. After troubleshooting, I discovered that the magnetron tube had failed. It also damaged the output transformer, capacitor, and the diode in the process.I wasn’t sure where I’d get replacements then thought, “Of course… Amazon!” Yep. There they were at an excellent price and ready to ship.This capacitor arrived after a few days with everything else. I installed the parts in a just a few minutes and I’m happy to report that our microwave works better than it had for at least a year!This Microwave Oven Capacitor is a great value and exactly like the OEM part — same physical size, and output rating. My microwave blew the fuse while cooking last week. When I replaced the fuse all appeared normal until I entered the time to cook and pressed start. The new fuse blew immediately. After some research and testing, I determined the capacitor was shorted and needed replacement. This capacitor was a direct replacement and works great. The microwave I used it in is a KitchenAid model: KHMS2040BSS-1. Be sure to determine the size of the connection tabs on the original capacitor as they come in two sizes, (1/4″ and 3/16″). For this unit to be plug and play, you need to determine this before ordering. This project is not for every do it yourself homeowner. I am an electrician so I knew how to determine the problem and fix it. We saved hundreds of dollars on buying a new microwave, and even a repairman could not fix it. Very happy to have found the part on Amazon as KitchenAid/Whirlpool were not helpful.
